2011 Cleveland Triathlon – United Cerebral Palsy

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Without a doubt, one of the most rewarding relationships that I’ve developed has been with the incredible people at United Cerebral Palsy.  Three years ago I became involved with them when I volunteered to help shoot pictures of their involvement with the Cleveland Triathlon.  I had a reason to help out in that a friend from high school had a son that had CP.  Little did I know what I would be getting into.  Back then it was a dozen or so families that pushed and pulled their children around the downtown in an effort to raise money and awareness for UCP.  Since then the number of families has grown and so have the abilities of those children that were once pushed and pulled.  This year two of them rode bikes and one walked the course on her own!   It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you just try.

Tri to…

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

Tomorrow morning I’ll be getting up early to head down and volunteer with United Cerebral Palsy of Cleveland.  This will be the second year that I’ll be shooting the event for them.   I have to say, it’s really amazing to see how UCP helps these families and to see what these young children and their parents, families, and friends are capable of achieving!
Here is a video that was put together by UCP about the event.   If you’re looking for something to do tomorrow morning, I’d say you should head downtown and cheer these families, and all the participants on!

A Sign of Summer's Ending

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

The lifeguards and kids put on the annual end of the year “Swim Show” this past week.  It’s sort of like a play but water.  Without insulting anybody – it’s often a little like the synchronized swimming skit on SNL.

I'll Tell Ya What I Want

This the theme was 40 years of Manry Pool. The guards relived some memories and danced to music from the past 40 years. It was a good time. It always is. The kids had fun. The crowd had fun. Too bad it means there is only a couple more weeks left to hit the pool before it closes and the kids head back to school.
