It’s probably been 16 or 17 year since I was last at Blue Hen Falls. A lot has changed. Back then it was in the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area. Now it’s a National Park. Back then I went in armed with zip lock bags, rulers and a notebook. I was spending my mornings and afternoons capturing and cataloging salamanders as part of my senior project while finishing up my degree in biology. I had a camera with me just in case I found one I couldn’t identify, but I don’t recall taking many pictures. I would have never thought then that my next visit would be for the sole purpose of capturing the falls on film…well…on pixels.

Almost a year ago today, I was getting my gear all packed up to head out and spend the day with Carli and Kevin and they got married. It’s amazing how time flies. I know they’ve had a pretty exciting first year of marriage as well. New jobs, new homes, and a new puppy!
Congratulations to both of you! I wish you countless more days together!

Is there anything better than taking in a ball game on a warm summer night? Tonight I finally got to see my team, the LoC Ducks, on the field for the first time this season. The guys played tough, but fell short by a run. Doesn’t matter that much. They had fun and got to hang out with their buddies for a couple of hours. Playing the dirt, spitting sunflower seeds and, at this age, probably some slightly inappropriate jokes on the bench. Getting pretty much like the Bigs if you ask me.

I’ve been sponsoring my kid’s teams for the past couple of years – soccer, t-ball, softball, baseball. It’s a good way to give back to the city leagues. I don’t feel guilty about not coaching if I’m footing part of the bill for the team!
And since I’m not coaching I get to shoot more of the action so expect lots of photos this summer – maybe not here in the blog – but over at the LoC Facebook page (become a fan!)

I met Candice earlier this summer and she already had a Fall themed shoot in mind for her engagement session. At that point she had a specific location in mind that would really work good that time of year. I’m all for clients knowing what they want. It just makes for better picture because they are involved.
A while later she called me up and asked if I would mind heading to a second location that had a couple of old cars just sitting around. She had already gotten permission from the owner for us to use them. I was even more excited now. Good looking people and old cars in a great combination!
The day of the shoot come around suddenly there was a third location that came up on the spur of the moment. It was my idea and it involved trespassing!
We hit all three places and had a great time! And nobody got their car hauled away by a killer in a tow truck!
I cannot wait to hear what Candice and Tom think of these shots. I also can’t wait to shoot their wedding in February 2011!
