Lilly & Leah: One Year

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

This is the second time twin sister’s Lilly and Leah make an appearance here at LoC!  This time around it’s to celebrate turning one!  Woot!

Have you ever seen a more stoic wooden pony rider?  That’s serious business going on!  Speaking of going on.  One year old is a lot more mobile that six months!  When they were done with me, they were off on the go!

Family: Erin, Matt and their Girls

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

Matt and Erin are friends of mine. I’ve coached their girls in soccer. Matt coaches my kids on swim team. Our wives gossip most mornings during the summer over coffee and swimming lessons. This winter they were looking to update their family photo and gave me a call. They wanted something simple. Nothing is simpler than black and white on white seamless paper.  It’s a look I’m hoping to do more with this year in all my sessions.

Baby Rykan

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

It’s often been said that photographer’s should find one thing and do it really well – be it babies, weddings, seniors.  The problem with that is that I would miss out on seeing my clients…now friends…families grow and get to be a part of it.  It’s hard to believe that 18 months or so ago I was photographing Candice and Tom’s engagement session, then their wedding, some maternity photos not to long ago and just last week I got to meet baby Rykan for the first time.

I shared one quick picture of the new family just before Christmas.  Here are a few more to enjoy!

Sophia: One Year

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

It’s been a few months since Sophia last graced the blog here at LoC.  She’s finally a year old and the weather was finally nice enough to get outside and take some pictures of her. She nothing but smile, teeth and a few concerned looks!

A New Look for United Cerebral Palsy – Cleveland

Sunday, May 8th, 2011

Two years ago I started volunteering with UCP Cleveland to shoot pictures of their involvement with the Cleveland Triathlon.  My connection was through some friends from high school that have a wonderful son, Tyler (his picture is down below), that has CP.  He’s a great kid and I was looking for some way to give a little back.  It was a great connection and UCP has been using my images on promotional materials for the race every year since.  I love doing it.  I already have this year’s race on my calendar.

Late last year they got in touch and asked if I would be willing to help out with their website.  Not sure if you ever saw their old one, but it was nothing to write home about.  They were giving it a complete make-over and needed new photographs for it.  They also wanted fresh images they could use going forward for their literature.

In the end, I spent two days with them at various locations around Cleveland building a library of stock photography that could be used for everything from their website to annual reports (and they were!).

So while, that sounds cool, and it was, the best part was actually working with the clients and staff at UCP Cleveland.  Everybody was so very kind and friendly.  It’s easy to see that staff and clients are family to each other.  It’s not just children either, young adults adults get help from the programs at UCP and from the smiles on the faces I saw during my two days there, they all really love what they do for each other.   That happiness is contagious and I spent two days shooting with a smile on my face as well.
