    One Last Winter Walk

    Saturday, February 27th, 2010

February is coming to an end and Spring should be just around the corner, but Mother Nature took one last chance (hopefully) to dump a whole bunch of snow on Northeast Ohio. I called up my good friend Andrea and off into the woods we went.

And since it’s the end of the month, now is also the time to place “Ask LoC”! Got a question about you think only a photographer could answer? Got a question about how I do things or why I do things? Now is your chance! Comment or email questions and in a couple of weeks I’ll post answers.

    For Love and Money

February came in like a lion here at LoC and had me pretty busy but things have quieted down and I’m just waiting for wedding season to begin. First one arrives in March and from then on you loyal blog readers can expect to be fed a steady diet of beautiful brides and handsome grooms.

Do you want LoC to be a part of your wedding day? I’m not completely booked for 2010 just yet so give me a call if you are still looking for the perfect photographer.

Valentine’s Day is only a few days away as of this posting. Yesterday the kid’s got cards from their grandparents. They scored $7! I’m still waiting for my cash filled cards to arrive.

Starting Friday, January 8th, I’ll have eight images on display and for sale at Lava Lounge in Tremont.  The images will be up from this Friday until the second Friday in February.   The theme is the icy shores of Lake Erie.  Stop on down and take a look.  I’ll be there Friday night from around 7:30PM until ???.

What are You Going to Do?

    Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

What are your photographic resolutions for 2010?  Whether you are an established pro or just picking up a camera there has to be something you should want to push yourself to do to become a better photographer.

I’ve been thinking of what I want to do photographically in 2010.  One thought was “a picture a day”.  It’s a great way to go out and force yourself to pick up your camera every day and shoot something.  They aren’t all going to be masterpieces, but that’s not the point.  The point is that you’ll be practicing every day.  You’ll be changing the settings on the you camera, your flash.  You’ll be pushing ISOs and shutter speeds.  You’ll be learning your gear.  I know because I did it a couple of years ago.  That’s my problem with taking it on again – a sort of been there and done that.

Another one that’s interesting to me is a “100 Strangers” project.  I know a few people who have taken this on.  It’s a challenge for a lot of reasons.  First, you’re going to need to have your camera with you all the time because you never know when you’ll find the perfect stranger.  Second, and probably harder than the last point, is that you’re going to have to approach somebody you don’t know and ask them – without seeming completely like a stalker – and ask them if you can take their picture.  I’m greedy, I’d probably have to ask if I could take a couple.  ;)

Still not sure what I’m going to take on.  I have a few other ideas rattling around the old noggin that I’m not ready to share.   Good thing I have a couple more days to 2010 to sort it all out. :)

What sort of challenges can you think up?

    I Believe in Christmas

This is a shot of my daughter from last Christmas enjoying to beauty of our tree. I probably posted it last year, but I thought it was fitting to repost it again on this Christmas Eve.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season and have time to take a break from the hustle and bustle to see the true meaning of what the holiday season is all about.

I’m hoping Santa leaves some camera gear under the tree! ;)
