Went for a walk under the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge today. It’s only open to visitors two or three times a year. It’s a nice walk and an interesting part of Cleveland history.

Last weekend the Cleveland Zoo said goodbye to it’s elephants while they build them a new state of the art exhibit.

They aren’t going far – just two hours south to the Columbus Zoo. The plan is for them to be back in Cleveland in 2011. 

I had the pleasure of doing a portrait session Friday night with a mother and her two sons.  It was a combination of some formal shots and then some more candid photojournalist style shots.  These are two of my favorites from the night.

I had been following the boys around as they were looking up at a squirrel.  There mom joined in and I just happened to be at the right place at the right time to catch a nice candid family shot.

If you’re paying attention you’ll notice that the blog has changed.  I finally cleaned up the RSS feed so that it works – click it over there on the right to add it to your reader.   I went black just to add contrast for the images and the header was updated just because I was tired of the old one.

One thing I was always allowed to buy at a store was a book. The one thing I was always allowed to stay up late doing was reading.

Get a book. Read it for yourself. Read it to your kids.

Even if reading makes one of your children upset because they can’t watch Dirty Jobs…..

From the Cleveland Metropark Zoo

Just a frog on a rock.  An American Bullfrog to be exact.  He was nice enough to sit there while I unpacked all my camera gear to take his picture.

Bandit is a Scarlet McCaw at the Cleveland Zoo. He was captured by poachers at some point and one of his wings was damaged and had to be removed. The zoo uses him for educational shows these days and he’s a crowd favorite. Just about any visitor to the Cleveland Zoo knows who Bandit is.
